TRANSPORTATION
According to the Ohio Department of School Transportation, all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, who live 2 miles or more from their residential school, qualify for busing to and from their school. To find your residential school, go to Find My School.
If your child qualifies for transportation, the school contacts the transportation department to arrange for a bus pass. Bus passes are sent out at the beginning of the year (or when the request is made). Parents and students must sign the bus pass which is kept on file in the Transportation Office. Please call 505-2850 for information.
If there is a change in residence, the request must come directly from the school to the transportation department. Busing changes could take up to 3 days before they become effective. Please give as much advance notice as possible.
All students with special needs or a medical statement from a doctor listing limitations and/or medical conditions that would make it necessary for SCS to provide transportation, must go through the Special Education Department, 505-2855. Special Education will then notify the Transportation Department of the type of busing that would be best for them.
All drivers have passed a required state test and must be recertified every six years. Aides must have a permit from the State of Ohio.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol must inspect buses before the beginning of each school year and periodically throughout the school year.
